The
Rituals of Sadomasochism and their Real Purposes

A great
many people use rituals of sadomasochism in order
to spice up sexuality or, who knows, vary their
sexual positions range of options, which they
might assume are in need of something different. Therein
lies the intent to get it better, change their approaches,
why not mentioning here, the so-called experimentation.
Being perhaps experimentation for new forms of pleasure
obtainment, the common-ground trait-like among those
who seek sadomasochist rituals. Although in such
cases, there should be total and ample consent of both
parts and even so, that rules are respected, sadomasochism is considered paraphylia.
The concept of the word paraphylia derives from Greek
roots meaning "side by side" and 'love"-
to describe the category of sexual behavior,
of which were labeled as perversions, deviations or
aberrations, constitute perhaps attempts to minimize
such difficulties.
As it is, the sadomasochism isn't going to turn
out just as healthy sexual experimentation, if
breaking the other person's boundaries of acceptance
criteria.
In this field of sexuality, it renders quite
complicated to determine what could be considered normal
out of abnormal. Given that, differences stem from those
involved in the first place, their personal accounts,
and livings, cultural, societal, or even religious background.
It has been cited above that there should be mutual
consent present in sadomasochism, since it takes
two to tango this sexual practice takes place.
We can think of the hypothesis of elements of sadistic
or masochist pleasure that probably exist in almost
everyone. There is a certain semantic difficulty in
defining, nonetheless, boundaries for appropriate terminology:
the bite, the scratch, the squeeze or tease, all of
which facilitate sexual response, are different
in kinds from the most obvious forms of sadomasochism such as spanking, bondage as in flogging and caning.
Obviously, there exists extreme extended in sadists
who inflict assaults on unwilling partners, as in cases
of rape, sexual homicide, and even tortures.
Just like there exist those masochists who derive
pleasure from being submitted to vicious and visibly
bizarre acts of slavery, humiliation, bondage and physical
abuse, on the extreme opposite end of the stick- are
those who will take part of well rehearsed episodes
or sadistic behavior or mild masochism or even
symbolic, from which only negligible amounts of discomfort
are generated. Whilst satisfaction derives principally
from the combination of fantasy, experimentation and
assurance from the acknowledgement that the partner
comprehend the rules and would be unlikely to transgress
the pre-established limits.
About the dynamic
functioning of sadomasochism or BDSM,
we can reason that, for the sadistic one a denial
of his/hers deep feelings of inferiority and weakness
takes place as in the following unconscious formula:
"I shall prove my power, my strength, forcing you
to submit to suffering and indignity". On other
words, the sadist-one is affirming to oneself that he/she
isn't impotent, vulnerable, whom is" powerful and
capable of inflicting pain on someone". As for
the masochist-one, in his/her inner self, being
latent great sufferance that is unconsciously linked
to the fear of not deserving love, feeling, equally,
such is the only way of drawing attention and being
loved, by being submissive to someone. In this unconscious
formula, therein "I shall submit and must submit
to all kinds of aggression or humiliation to be loved".
It's verifiable
that, inasmuch as for the sadist so for the masochist
serves the sexual relation as unconscious soothe.
